DescriptionTAG 2026 is the 47th annual meeting of the Theoretical Archaeology Group (TAG) which this year is being hosted by the Department of Archaeology and History at the University of Exeter. TAG was founded as a national body in 1979 with the aim of promoting debate and discussion of issues in theoretical archaeology. The annual conference is organised to be accessible at low cost to research students, practitioners and independent scholars.
The conference will consist of multiple parallel sessions, keynote speakers, workshops and film screenings, a crafts/makers fair, and stands for publishers and societies. It provides an opportunity for networking and socialising, including a drinks reception, quiz and party. A diverse range of speakers from across the globe is expected, with attendees ranging from students to academics, employees of commercial organisations, museums and national institutions, and independent scholars.
TAG, in collaboration with the Department of Archaeology and History at the University of Exeter, is committed to promoting access for all and to creating an environment that is safe, inclusive and welcoming.
