Oceans Past brings together scholars and practitioners interested in documenting and understanding changes in marine systems and human maritime interactions in past decades, centuries and millennia. The 10th Oceans Past Conference will enable continued scholarly networking and international exchange towards a fuller understanding of the past, the present, and potential future trajectories of our marine ecosystems and the human communities that interact with these.

This payment must be completed before you register for the conference, to take advantage of reduced registration rates.

A night at the Maritime Museum (Thursday 27 June 6-8pm). Professionals: £35; Early Career Researchers: £20. A chance to come together to celebrate ocean heritage, with canapes, a welcome drink and a cash bar.
Boating on the Fal (Friday 28 June 2-5.30pm). Professionals: £30; Early Career Researchers: £15 Networking with your peers while searching for coastal heritage and marine wildlife on a 2-3 hour boat trip along the beautiful Fal Estuary (plus a trip to the historic Helford estuary if weather allows).
Accommodation booking information:
We have reserved 30 ensuite rooms on Penryn campus, just a few minutes’ walk from where the conference sessions will be held.
Rooms will be charged at £45.00 per night and are available from Mon 24th June with options to depart either on Fri 28th or Sat 29th June.
All bedrooms are priced per room per night and occupancy is a maximum of two people per room. We will require the names of all guests (including those who are not attending the conference) for fire safety purposes. Most rooms are double beds with some rooms set up as twin beds. We will do our best to provide you with the room set up you request but we can make no promises due to limited availability of twin accommodation set-up.
The price does not include breakfast but guests can purchase their own breakfast on site, or there is a communal kitchen shared between rooms and a campus shop selling basic food stuffs. Timing of check-in is from 16:00 and check-out is no later than 10:00 hours.
Accommodation will be first-come, first served basis. Payment in full must be made for your booking to be reserved. Booking and payment must be made by 10 May 2024. Cancellation with a full refund will be possible before 25 May 2024, after which we will do our best to refund your accommodation if you have to cancel, but this will not be a full refund.
