Age Range: Year 5 and 6

Cost: £38

Course description:

In this creative and hands-on workshop, children will dive into the vibrant world of Pop Art! Pop Art emerged as a movement in the mid-to-late 1950s and challenged traditional abstract and surrealist fine art by incorporating imagery from popular and mass culture such as comic books and advertising. We will learn about, and be inspired by, the work of Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein amongst others, observing how they created their famous masterpieces, which often incorporated logos and product labels.

We will look at the innovative techniques and mediums they used such as acrylic, screen printing and collage. Children will explore the artists’ bold use of colour and their striking, eye-catching designs to inspire their own piece of pop art, which they will take home at the end of the day.

All materials will be provided, but children are welcome to bring along comic book sheets or logos which they would like to incorporate into their work.
